I’m Elly Searle (she/her), and I’m a Principal Content Strategist/UX Writer/Content Designer. That means that I strategically lead how to design for and communicate with our customers, considering every level of our product.
- I partner with my developers and architects to bring our customers’ perspective to system architecture and API word choices.
- I brainstorm and iterate with my PMs and UX Designers to come up with smart defaults and advanced options that make sense the first time someone reads them.
- I collaborate with teams across our company to advocate for a consistent, thoughtful end-to-end customer journey.
In the past, I’ve done a bit of everything in the user experience world: consumer products with Windows, retail at Nordstrom, and cybersecurity at CrowdStrike. In 2016, I co-created the UX Writing Fundamentals curriculum for Seattle’s SVC with Torrey Podmajersky. I still (sometimes) teach at the School of Visual Concepts. I have my masters in Human-Centered Design & Engineering (HCDE) from the University of Washington.
I’m curious and collaborative. I love exploring all the ways we can make our experiences better for people. My current passion is helping make technical topics easier to understand for everyone, like rewriting tactic definitions for Mitre’s ATT&CK matrixes.
I’m open to more teaching and speaking opportunities.
